How We Review
Every review on MyHomeGymHQ goes through the same process. No shortcuts, no paid placements, no gear getting a free pass because a brand sent it to us.
We research the market first
Before writing a single word, we look at what’s actually available — across Amazon, direct brand sites, and specialist retailers. We identify the top-selling products, read hundreds of verified buyer reviews, and look for patterns in what people love and hate.
We assess specs against real training needs
Weight capacity, dimensions, adjustment range, warranty, build materials — we evaluate each against what home gym users actually need. A rack that looks great but won’t fit a standard ceiling isn’t making our list, no matter how good the marketing is.
We score every product on 5 criteria
Each product gets an HGQ Score out of 5, based on:
- Build quality — materials, welds, finish, durability
- Value for money — what you get vs what you pay
- Performance — does it do what it claims?
- Space efficiency — footprint, storage, adjustability
- Buyer satisfaction — real user feedback across platforms
We only recommend what we’d buy ourselves
If a product doesn’t make the cut, it doesn’t make the article. We’d rather have a shorter list of genuinely good picks than pad it out with mediocre gear. Our readers are spending real money — we take that seriously.
We update reviews when things change
Prices change. Models get updated. New gear launches. We revisit our roundups regularly to make sure the recommendations are still current — so you’re never buying based on outdated advice.
A note on affiliate links
Some links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through them, we earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep the site running and the reviews free. It does not influence our recommendations. We only include products we’d genuinely recommend regardless.
